When short track possessions must be used optimally, high capacity is required. The BDS 2000-4 ballast management system for tracks and turnouts is ideally suited to meet this requirement.
Efficient use of existing resources, top quality of work and high working speed: We present the BDS 2000-4, a ballast management system that has been improved in many details.
In addition to rail-guided ballasting, we have also equipped the BDS 2000-4 with conveyor belts for ballasting. The machine can be fitted with two or four belts, enabling ballast to be placed in precisely metered quantities. This saves valuable resources and increases the work output.
The BDS 2000-4 has been equipped with a work cabin in new design, familiar from the E³ machines. The workplaces offer higher economic comfort and give a better view onto the working areas. In addition, a video system is mounted on the machine. It records all important features: ballast hopper, ballast distribution, centre plough, conveyor belts, sweeper unit as well as forward and reverse motion. This makes it possible to control the machine yet more precisely and, as a result, more efficiently.
The BDS 2000-4 has been fitted with a dust arresting atomiser unit to reduce the generation of dust in the working area, supplied by a 3,500 l tank. It is filled automatically with rain water, collected from the machine roof. Additionally, the tank can be filled using water hoses.
The BDS 2000-4 has already been approved in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Compared to the “larger” BDS 2000, the design of the BDS 2000-4 does not allow the separate operation of the machine sections. Moreover, MFS material conveyor and hopper units cannot be integrated. However, the integrated ballast hopper has a storage capacity of 15 m³, ensuring utmost efficiency for all standard maintenance operations.
