Rainer Wenty shaped Plasser & Theurer’s brand image for more than five decades. He represented the company at countless events on every continent, such as conventions and trade fairs, and was always well-versed in all the technical details. As an advocate for innovative track construction and maintenance, he demonstrated patience and perseverance in explaining technological achievements, many of which would later become industry standards. Rainer had an incredibly broad range of expertise, covering the entire permanent way, superstructure, substructure, traction current systems as well as railway operations. He generously shared his knowledge in expert articles.
As a newly trained mechanical engineer, he joined Plasser & Theurer on 1 January 1967. His tasks included establishing a technical information department. He later became Head of Strategic Marketing and Technical Sales. He also engaged in volunteer work in various associations and organizations, such as the Austrian Society for Traffic and Transport Science and the Association of German Railway Engineers.
Rainer Wenty will be greatly missed by us all. He was a tolerant and long-sighted person who treated everyone with respect. Respected by employees, colleagues, and business partners, he represented a whole era of track construction and maintenance.
