The URM 700 was in service as part of the “Railway Transport Routes 2022” railway construction conference in the Czech city of Olomouc. It took place from 14 to 16 November 2022 and attracted a large number of visitors. The machine was shown in the immediate vicinity of the conference hotel, near the Olomouc main railway station. The presentation about our core technology for turnout renewal was of particular interest. A complete turnout was cleaned with the continuous-action URM 700.
The fast and independent installation and removal of the excavating unit allows the URM 700 to also work cost-efficiently on short sections of track. The set-up times are short and removing the turnout is not required. This prevents full track closures. Both turnout cleaning and tamping in turnouts can be completed in the shortest possible time, and the track section can be reopened for traffic. The duration of track possessions is a key factor, particularly for main lines.
Another advantage that sparked experts’ interest is that sections of track between turnouts can be cleaned in one pass. We offer this continuous turnout cleaning using the URM 700 as a complete service. Our partner for this is Franz Plasser Vermietung von Bahnbaumaschinen in Purkersdorf, Austria.
The Czech construction company Subterra performed follow-up work on the track in Olomouc. They used a Unimat 09-4x4/4S Dynamic universal tamping machine and a USP 2000-C2 ballast profiling machine by Plasser & Theurer. The Czech state railway infrastructure company SŽ, the railway construction company TOMI Remont (worksite organization), and VHC Trade & Servis (our certified, local service partner for Czechia and Slovakia) gave their support for the exhibition and the presentation of the machine.
