GPR brings technological leap in track inspection ​

The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is gaining importance in track maintenance. Providing high-resolution data on individual track components, it allows taking all relevant parameters into account. This holistic approach benefits cost-efficiency. ​

New VR ballast regulating simulator allows for more flexible and mobile training ​

Simulators make it possible to learn and practise machine operation under realistic conditions. With the VR ballast regulating simulator, the second generation of this training technology comes into play. It works almost like a computer game. A VR headset, a controller, and the simulation software: that is all you need to practise working and driving with Plasser & Theurer ballast regulating machines. ​

The newly designed 09-3X Tamping Express ​

​Deutsche Gleisbau Union (DGU) is expanding its fleet. It is the first company in Germany to employ the newly designed continuous-action, 3-sleeper high-capacity tamping machine. By adding the machine to its fleet, DGU is reacting to current tender trends. ​

Engine upgrades reduce emissions and save costs ​

​Since 2020, new machine engines must meet the latest EURO 5 emission standard; it is mandatory in all EU countries. The specified emission limits do not apply to older machines. However, they can also benefit from the impressive advances in engine technology. We are happy to advise you on available options for your machines and also carry out the complete engine upgrade. ​

Fossil free future for track work machinery ​

​Alternative drives are becoming increasingly popular in the transport sector. Environmental concerns are an important factor driving this development. The FFF study (Fossil Free Future for Track Work Machinery), conducted by TU Graz in cooperation with Plasser & Theurer, examines the possibility of achieving zero direct emissions during maintenance and construction work on railways. ​

Earthquake-proof: new sleepers for Japan’s high-speed lines

In western Japan, derailment prevention guards are employed to protect trains from derailments caused by earthquakes. The modern SES 170 sleeper exchange system by Plasser & Theurer installs these sleepers efficiently. ​

Plasser India is responding to the increased demand for construction and maintenance machines by continuously adapting its production capacity. The new factory in Karjan began operating in 2019.
