Handing over machines to happy customers

When it comes to modern, high-performance track maintenance machines, the International Exhibition for Track Technology is definitely the place to be. It comes as no surprise that Plasser & Theurer exhibited a wide variety of machines there: four of them were officially handed over to customers. Several premieres took place at iaf.

Johannes Max-Theurer emphasises how Plasser & Theurer machines are particularly sustainable and long-lasting. As he points out, if the machines weren’t built to last, the number of machines supplied to international customers would be much greater than 17,000. Since the company was founded almost 70 years ago, approximately half of these machines are still in service.

Plassermatic 08-275 ZW

Plasser & Theurer supplied its 17,000th machine to Poland. The guest of honour country at iaf, it took home a Plassermatic 08-275 ZW: a road-rail tamping machine equipped with the latest technology. The machine was handed over to Gór-Tor, an up-and-coming company seeking to expand into the urban and industrial sectors. They count Polish State Railways among their customers. The 08-275 ZW provides ideal preconditions for expansion.

Duomatic 08-32

The first cyclic-action 2-sleeper tamping machine in the form of a brand new Duomatic 08-32 went to Côte d’Ivoire. The company Sitarail said it was truly an honour to be able to put this modern machine from the global standard portfolio into operation in their country.

Eco-retrofits

Another premiere was handing over, or perhaps more aptly described as “re-handing over”, a Unimat 08-475/4S with a brand-new e-tamping unit to Strukton. Domiciled in the Dutch city of Utrecht, the company places a strong focus on sustainability. By upgrading from a hydraulic to an electric tamping unit, Strukton actively embraced the future of tamping.

DGS NG

Johannes Max-Theurer handed over a particularly sustainable machine to the Italian company Euro Ferroviaria: a DGS NG for performing dynamic track stabilisation. The new DGS NG homogenises the ballast bed, which prevents temporary speed restrictions following tamping and increases lateral track resistance: an asset in terms of Italian track quality.
