Dear Readers,
Tighter maintenance windows, increasing traffic volumes, and labour shortages are putting pressure on us all. More high-quality work has to be done with less time available. In addition, the demand for rail capacity is increasing worldwide.
At Plasser & Theurer, we integrate work processes to create end-to-end solutions. By combining inspection, measuring, maintenance, and documentation of track infrastructure, we are enhancing process reliability.
We also think with future generations in mind. As a company, reducing emissions is one of our key tasks and helps us to lower energy costs. This is reflected in the variety of energy sources and drive solutions available today: electricity from the overhead contact line, battery technology, and electric work units. These technological advancements promoting climate protection are significant and enable quieter, cleaner, and more sustainable operation.
To ensure that cutting-edge track construction and maintenance machines can be safely put on track, a new assembly workshop was opened at our site in Linz this summer. At more than 60 million euros, it is the largest single investment in the company’s history. For machine commissioning, the facility provides three 91-metre tracks and one 56-metre track.
Active collaboration with you – as infrastructure managers, construction companies, engineering consultancies, and research centres – helps us to further develop technologies and the necessary manufacturing processes in line with relevant requirements. The industry dialogue at InnoTrans 2026 will certainly foster this collaboration and development.
I hope you enjoy the latest issue of today!
Yours sincerely,
Daniel Tomaschko
