When people go through huge development changes, this will often manifest itself in their outer appearance. One starts to dress differently, has a different hair style or gets rid of one’s beard. When companies strike out in a new direction, this will usually manifest itself in new product designs.

One year after presenting the prototypes at iaf (27th International Exhibition for Track Technology) in Münster in May 2017, the first machine with the new look was ready to be deployed on the track.

For more than one year, Plasser & Theurer has been using the Hardware in the Loop method. For the time being, it primarily serves to test and optimise the function of machine control units. The fascinating thing about it is that these tests can take place as soon as design is completed – before the machine is built.

Absolute track measurement

One of the tasks of the permanent way staff of the Italian railway network (RFI, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) is checking the absolute track geometry. This ensures that the geometric quality of the track meets the increasing speed. RFI has introduced new control techniques over the last few years to make this work easier and faster.

The perfect machine for India's metros

In December 2018, we handed over a Plasser 08-16 B SH/ZW universal tamping machine to Maha Metro Nagpur. The Plasser 08-16 B SH/ZW is the third machine of this type used on Indian metro lines. Track laying for India’s largest railway construction project

Produced at Plasser India, three SVM 1000 I track laying trains are working on the largest infrastructure project in India. The impressive construction projects include a dedicated freight corridor with a total length of around 3,300 km.
